Interior Decor and the New Pantone Color of the Year 2018

I'm a bargain shopper...big time. The better the deal, the more likely it is to wind up in my decor. And Thrift Stores are fabulous for that. However, when it comes to fabric items or items that may harbor bed bugs, the rule of thumb is 'new' only! And if I can't bleach it, forget it.

Pantone recently released it's color of the year for 2018.

And for my current color selections, it should blend right in. I love color! Multiple colors! The more the merrier!

And fortunately for me, the color wheel for the 2018 season, is LOADED with color. Pantone released the entire Interior Decor Wheel HERE.  (Link opens in new window)

The shades are more matte, which I love. They seem to follow a rather subtle pattern. Which is the opposite of how I would describe color. It's rarely subtle,  in terms of the picture that the word 'color' derives.

For the purposes of this article, I've posted my before picture above. Over the next few weeks, I'm on  the hunt for ultra violet....and I seriously can't wait for the day when I can open the windows and do a deep scrub. The temp here is well below freezing.

And I'm really loving the look and feel of those amazing blues!

And Greens!

And silver....I love silver! The pic above, just reminded me of our latest project. That silver dresser blew me away.  Hence the reason I decided to be brave and go for it. My son's room needed a make-over and silver oddly seemed...right. As he is into futuristic and modern ideas, I just jumped in...bought a TON of metallic spray paint and hoped for the best. I've seen many photos of spray painted wooden furniture and honestly I was extremely nervous about possibly destroying his furniture set. But I was not disappointed!

I was actually blown away by the ease of the entire project. I learned the trick was to keep the can at least 2 feet away, to prevent runners. Also, double up or even triple coat the wood.

Then we added some 'industrial' decor.

As for my daughter, she is preferable to music and a darker theme. We went with The Phantom of the Opera....

I started by painting her closet door with a stage type theme. Old and worn, it appears to almost be a 'cartoon' image. Then I painted her a room a subtle grey....

Small mirrors, bring the dressing room feel of an Opera House ...to life.....

I painted the glass on her cabinet a deep red. Then imagine my surprise when I walked into the Thrift Store THAT DAY and found an Opera dress painting and two clay masks!

The dark curtains topped with a lovely shade of deep red, help to bring about the  opera house  stage .

As we go through the winter season, in order to stave off my complete and utter boredom....finding new ways to incorporate this years color pattern, should more then enough to keep me occupied. I'll be trying to keep the new site updated as I go. I've switched from HOMEFREEKIDS, in an effort to open up more options for the future by using a Google Platform. And slowly, I'll be recovering as much as possible from the other site and re-publishing via blogger. Hence the reason why some articles may seem a bit outdated. This one however, is current.

As always, Thank You for Following!
