Simple Vegan or Not Strawberry Dessert!
For the purposes of this recipe, I am including the vegan wonton wrap recipe. However, if you choose, this recipe can be modified either way. Vegan or Not...You decide...
Ingredients for VEGAN VERSION:
Won Ton Wraps
Sugar in the Raw (Must be Sugar in the Raw brand. It tastes and works better for this recipe.)
Almond Milk
Vegan Cream Cheese (I chose Daiya brand)
Fresh Diced Strawberries
Coconut Oil
Ingredients for Regular Version:
Won Ton Wraps
Sugar in the Raw
2 Eggs (beaten)
Cream Cheese
Fresh Diced Strawberries
Oil
INSTRUCTIONS:
Vegan: Begin by pouring a half a cup of almond milk in a bowl.
Regular: Begin by beating 2 eggs into a bowl.
This will be the soak to hold the sugar to the won ton.
Add a half cup of sugar in the raw to another small bowl.
Soak won ton in egg or almond milk.
Coat won ton in sugar.
Put a half teaspoon of cream cheese in the center.
Add a small enough portion of diced strawberry to be able to fold over the won ton.
Coat won ton in sugar.
Put a half teaspoon of cream cheese in the center.
Add a small enough portion of diced strawberry to be able to fold over the won ton.
Gently fold over won ton and pinch sides.
Put your oil in a saucepan. You really don't need a lot. I personally used about 2 tablespoons of coconut oil.
Fry till golden brown and crispy on the outside. You want to caramelize the sugar. It gives the wrap a toasted marshmallow flavor.
*Honestly...it doesn't do the recipe justice to use white sugar.
Place on a plate, garnish with fresh cut strawberries.
(This recipe would be amazing with mangos!)
